Carrot Curry/Carrot Poricha Kulambu

IMG_0398This is a tasty and easy poricha curry recipe. This goes well with rice, idli and dosa. The recipe is as follows

Preparation Time: 15minutes

Cooking Time: 30minutes

Ingredients:

  • Carrot -1
  • Thoor Dal/Thuvaram Parupu -1cup
  • Coconut -2tblsp grated
  • Coriander seeds/Malli seeds -2tsp
  • Pepper/Milagu -1tsp
  • Cumin seeds/Seerakam -1tsp
  • Red chilli powder/Milagai thool -2tsp
  • Mustard seeds/Kadugu -1tsp
  • Urad Dal/Ulutham Parupu -1/2tsp
  • Red chilli -2
  • Curry leaves –A spring
  • Salt -2tsp or as required
  • Oil -2tblsp or as required

For Grinding:

  • Coconut -2tblsp grated
  • Coriander seeds/Malli seeds -2tsp
  • Pepper/Milagu -1tsp
  • Cumin seeds/Seerakam -1tsp
  • Red chilli powder/Milagai thool -2tsp

Grind everything to a smooth paste by adding water

Preparation:

  • Grind coconut, coriander seeds, pepper, cumin seeds, chilli powder to a smooth paste by adding water
  • Chop carrots

Procedure:

  • Pressure cook thoor dal by adding water for 3whistles in high flame and in low flame for 10minutes
  • Add the chopped carrots in water and boil till it becomes soft
  • Pour oil in a pan. Add mustard seeds and after they crackle, add urad dal, red chilli and curry leaves
  • Then add the cooked toor dal and mix well
  • Add the boiled carrots along with the boiled water and mix well
  • Grind coconut, coriander seeds, pepper, cumin seeds, chilli powder to a smooth paste by adding water and add it and mix well
  • Carrot Curry is now ready!!!

Step by Step Procedure:
