South Indian Fish Curry

IMG_9385This is a tasty and yummy fish curry which goes well with rice, idli and dosa. The preparation is easy and the taste will be awesome. You can try it with any fish as you like. The recipe is as follows

Preparation Time: 25minutes

Cooking Time: 35minutes

Ingredients:

  • Fish -1/2kg
  • Shallots/Small onion/Sambar onion -1cup+1/2cup
  • Coconut -1cup
  • Red chilli powder/Milagai thool -1rblsp
  • Coriander powder/Malli thool -1tblsp
  • Cumin powder/Seeraka thool -1tsp
  • Tamarind water -1cup (Soak lemon size tamarind in water and extract the juice)
  • Mustard seeds/Kadugu -1tsp
  • Tomato -1
  • Curry leaves –A spring
  • Water -1cup
  • Salt -2tsp or as required
  • Oil -3tblsp or as required

For Grinding:

  • Shallots/Small onion/Sambar onion -1cup
  • Coconut -1cup
  • Red chilli powder/Milagai thool -1rblsp
  • Coriander powder/Malli thool -1tblsp
  • Cumin powder/Seeraka thool -1tsp

Grind this to a smooth paste by adding water

Preparation:

  • Chop onion into small pieces
  • Grind tomato to a fine puree
  • Grind small onion, chilli powder, cumin powder, coriander powder and coconut a smooth paste by adding water
  • Soak lemon size tamarind in water and extract the juice

Procedure:

  • Grind small onion, chilli powder, cumin powder, coriander powder and coconut a smooth paste by adding water
  • Add tamarind water to this mixture and keep
  • Pour oil in a pan
  • Add mustard seeds and after it splutters add curry leaves and ½ cup onion and fry till onion becomes golden brown in color
  • Then add tomato puree and salt and fry till the raw smell leaves off
  • Then add the grinded mixture and add water and boil
  • Then add the fish pieces one by one and boil
  • South Indian Fish Curry is now ready!!!

Step by Step Procedure:

Grind small onion, chilli powder, cumin powder, coriander powder and coconut a smooth paste by adding water

IMG_9377Pour oil in a pan. Add mustard seeds and after it splutters add curry leaves and ½ cup onion and fry till onion becomes golden brown in color
