Pepper Rasam/Milagu Rasam

IMG_0056This is a simple rasam which you can prepare very quickly. This can be kept when you are in a hurry. This rasam will be tasty to drink. The recipe is as follows

Preparation Time: 10minutes

Cooking Time: 20minutes

Ingredients:

  • Tomato -1
  • Curry leaves –A spring
  • Mustard seeds/Kadugu -1tsp
  • Hing/Asafoetida/Perunkayam powder-1tsp
  • Tamarind water- 2cups (Soak a lemon size tamarind in water and extract the juice)
  • Pepper powder/Milagu thool -1tblsp
  • Red chilli powder/Milagai thool -1tsp
  • Garlic -5pods
  • Coriander leaves –A spring
  • Salt -1tsp or as required
  • Oil -2tblsp or as required

Preparation:

  • Chop tomato into small pieces
  • Soak a lemon size tamarind in water and extract the juice

Procedure:

  • Pour oil in a pan
  • Add mustard seeds, hing, curry leaves and tomato and fry well
  • Add tamarind water and allow to boil
  • Add pepper powder, chilli powder and garlic and boil
  • Add coriander leaves
  • Pepper Rasam is now ready!!!
