Mint Potato Gravy/Pudhina Urulaikilangu Kulambu

IMG_9574This is a tasty curry which goes well as a side dish for chapatti, naan and parota. The preparation is also simple and it’s healthy too. The recipe is as follows

Preparation Time: 20minutes

Cooking Time: 30minutes

Ingredients:

  • Potato -2
  • Mint leaves/Pudhina -1/2cup
  • Big onion -2
  • Ginger garlic paste -1tblsp(For homemade ginger garlic paste click here –> Click)
  • Tomato -1
  • Coriander leaves -1/2cup
  • Green chilli -3
  • Cumin seeds/Seerakam -1tsp
  • Biriyani leaf -1
  • Coriander powder/Malli thool -2tsp
  • Red chilli powder/Milagai thool -2tsp
  • Turmeric powder/Manjal thool -1tsp
  • Salt -1 and 1/2tsp or as required
  • Oil -2tblsp+1tblsp or as required

For Grinding:

  • Coriander leaves -1/2cup
  • Green chilli -3
  • Mint leaves/Pudhina -1/2cup

Grind this to a fine paste by adding water

Preparation:

  • Pressure cook potato for 3whistles in high flame by adding some water
  • Chop onion and tomato into small pieces
  • Grind mint leaves, coriander leaves and green chilli to a fine paste by adding water

Procedure:

  • Pour 1tblsp oil in a pan
  • Add the potatoes and fry them and keep aside
  • Pour 2tblsp oil in a pan
  • Add cumin seeds and biriyani leaf and fry well
  • Add onion and fry till it becomes golden brown in color
  • Add ginger garlic paste and fry well
  • Add tomato and fry till it becomes soft
  • Add chilli powder, coriander powder, turmeric powder and salt and mix well
  • Add potato and mix well and boil in low flame for some time
  • Grind mint leaves, coriander leaves and green chilli to a fine paste by adding water and add this and mix well
  • Mint Potato Curry is now ready!!!

Step by Step Procedure:

Pressure cook potato for 3whistles in high flame by adding some water
