Mint Curry/Pudhina Kulambu

IMG_8563This is a tasty mint curry which can be taken with steamed rice and as a side dish for idli and dosa. This is very easy to prepare and it’s healthy too. Mint has a lot of health benefits and it can be taken as juice or chutney or as curry as we like.

Preparation Time: 15minutes

Cooking Time: 30minutes

Ingredients:

  • Mint leaves -1cup
  • Big onion -2
  • Tomato -1
  • Cumin seeds/Seerakam -1/2tsp
  • Fenugreek/Venthayam -1tsp
  • Red chili powder/Milagai thool -1tblsp
  • Coriander powder/Malli thool -2tsp
  • Mustard seeds/Kadugu -1tsp
  • Asafoetida/Hing/Perunkayam -1tsp
  • Curry leaves –A spring
  • Tamarind Water -1cup (Soak lemon size tamarind in water and extract the juice)
  • Water -1/2cup
  • Salt -2tsp or as required
  • Oil -2tblsp+1tblsp or as required

Preparation:

  • Wash mint leaves
  • Chop onion and tomato into small pieces

Procedure:

  • Pour oil in a pan
  • Add cumin seeds, fenugreek, and onion and fry till onion becomes golden brown in color
  • Then add tomatoes and fry well till it becomes soft
  • Then add mint leaves and fry well till it shrinks
  • Then grind it with chili powder and coriander powder
  • Pour 1tblsp oil in a pan
  • Add mustard seeds, hing, curry leaf and tamarind water and boil
  • Then add the grinded masala, salt and water and boil well
  • Mint Curry is now ready!!!

Step by Step Procedure:
