Garlic Rasam/Poondu Rasam

IMG_0142This is a simple and easy rasam recipe. It can be taken with steamed rice. The recipe is as follows

Preparation Time: 15minutes

Cooking Time: 20minutes

Ingredients:

  • Tomato -1
  • Channa Dal/Kadala Parupu -1tsp
  • Cumin Seeds/Seerakam -1tsp
  • Coriander Seeds/Malli seeds -1 and ½ tblsp
  • Pepper/Milagu -1tsp
  • Garlic -10pods
  • Red chilli -2
  • Mustard seeds/Kadugu -1tsp
  • Tamarind Water -3cups (Soak lemon size tamarind in water and extract the juice and add water)
  • Coriander leaves –A spring
  • Salt -1tsp or as required
  • Oil -3tblsp or as required

Preparation:

  • Chop tomato into small pieces
  • Soak lemon size tamarind in water and extract the juice and add water

Procedure:

  • Pour 1tsp oil in a pan
  • Add channa dal, cumin seeds, pepper and fry and keep aside
  • Pour 1tsp oil in a pan and fry coriander seeds and keep aside
  • Grind both of them to a fine paste
  • Pour 1tblsp oil in a pan and add garlic and fry and keep
  • Pour 3tblsp oil in a pan
  • Add mustard seeds, red chilli and tomato and fry
  • Add tamarind water and salt and boil
  • Add the grinded paste and boil
  • Add fried garlic and boil slightly and add coriander leaves
  • Garlic Rasam is now ready!!!

Step by Step Procedure:
