Coriander Chicken/Kothamalli Chicken

IMG_9888This is a tasty and nice chicken curry which goes well with rice, idli and dosa. The flavor of coriander leaves will be so nice and the taste will be excellent. The recipe is as follows

Preparation Time: 20minutes

Cooking Time: 35minutes

Ingredients:

  • Chicken -1/2kg
  • Small onion -1cup
  • Ginger garlic paste -1tblsp(For homemade ginger garlic paste click here –> Click)
  • Cinnamon/Pattai -1inch piece
  • Cloves/Krambu -3
  • Fennel Seeds/Sombu/Perunjeerakam -2rsp
  • Green chilli -3
  • Curry leaves -1/4cup
  • Coriander leaves -1cup
  • Tomato -2
  • Coriander powder/Malli thool -1tblsp
  • Turmeric powder/Manjal thool -1tsp
  • Water -1/2cup
  • Salt -2tsp or as required
  • Oil -3tblsp or as required

For Grinding 1:

  • Cinnamon/Pattai -1inch piece
  • Cloves/Krambu -3
  • Fennel Seeds/Sombu/Perunjeerakam -2rsp
  • Green chilli -3

Grind this to a fine paste by adding water

For Grinding 2:

  • Curry leaves -1/4cup
  • Coriander leaves -1cup

Grind this to a fine paste by adding water

Preparation:

  • Pressure cook chicken for 3whistles in high flame by adding some turmeric powder and water
  • Chop onion and tomato into small pieces
  • Grind every thing given under “For Grinding” to a fine paste

Procedure:

  • Pour 2tblsp oil in a pan
  • Add onion and fry well till it turns golden brown and grind it to a paste
  • Pour 3tblsp oil in a pan
  • Add the grinded onion and fry well
  • Grind cinnamon, cloves, fennel seeds and green chilli to a fine paste and add it and mix well
  • Add ginger garlic paste and fry
  • Add tomatoes and fry till it becomes soft
  • Then add the boiled chicken along with the remaining water and add water and boil well
  • Grind curry leaves and coriander leaves to a fine paste and add it and boil
  • Add coriander powder and salt and mix well and boil
  • Add coriander leaves and switch off the flame
  • Coriander Chicken is now ready!!!

Step by Step Procedure:

Pour 2tblsp oil in a pan. Add onion and fry well till it turns golden brown

IMG_9869Allow it to cool and grind it to a paste. Pour 3tblsp oil in a pan. Add the grinded onion and fry well
