Coconut Rice/Thengai Sadam

IMG_0159This is a tasty and yummy variety rice which can be prepared easily. It can be prepared easily when we are in a hurry. You can also prepare this when you have left over rice. You can easily pack this as a lunch box recipe for kids. The recipe is as follows

Preparation Time: 10minutes

Cooking Time: 20minutes

Ingredients:

  • Rice -1cup
  • Cardamom/Elakai/Elachi -2
  • Mustard seeds/Kadugu -1tsp
  • Urad Dal/Ulutham parupu -1/2tsp
  • Channa Dal/Kadalai parupu -1 and 1/2tblsp
  • Pepper 1tsp
  • Peanuts -1tblsp
  • Cashew -1tsp
  • Pista -1tsp
  • Curry leaves –A spring
  • Red chilli -1
  • Green chilli -1
  • Coconut gratings -1/2cup
  • Ghee -2tsp
  • Salt -1tsp or as required
  • Oil -3tblsp or as required

Preparation:

  • Cook rice and add ghee to it and mix it

Procedure:

  • Cook rice and add ghee to it and mix it
  • Pour oil in a pan
  • Add mustard seeds and after they crackle, add urad dal, channa dal, cardamom and pepper and fry
  • Then add cashews and pista and fry
  • Then add curry leaves, red chilli and green chilli and fry
  • Then add coconut gratings and salt mix well
  • Add rice and mix well
  • Coconut Rice is now ready!!!

Step by Step Procedure:
