Bitter gourd Moong Dal Fry/Pavakkai pasiparupu kootu

IMG_9053This is a tasty fry which goes well as a side dish for rice. Here we add moong dal with bitter gourd and the taste will be very nice. The preparation is also simple and we can see the recipe now

Preparation Time: 15minutes

Cooking Time: 25minutes

Ingredients:

  • Bitter gourd/Pavakkai -1
  • Moong Dal/Pasi parupu -1/4cup
  • Turmeric powder/Manjal thool -1tsp
  • Big onion -1
  • Tomato -1
  • Red chilli -2
  • Curry leaves –A spring
  • Mustard seeds/Kadugu -1tsp
  • Green chilli -1
  • Coconut gratings -1/4cup
  • Salt -2tsp or as required
  • Oil -3tblsp or as required

Preparation:

  • Wash and chop bitter gourd into small pieces
  • Chop onion and tomato into small pieces

Procedure:

  • Pressure cook bitter gourd with moong dal and add turmeric powder and water to it and cook for 3whistles in high flame and in low flame for 10minutes
  • Pour oil ina pan
  • Add mustard seeds, green chilli, red chilli, curry leaves and onion and fry
  • Add tomatoes and fry
  • Then add the dal cooked with bitter gourd and mix well
  • Add salt and coconut gratings and mix well
  • Bitter gourd Moong Dal fry is now ready!!!

Step by Step Procedure:
