Beetroot Chutney

IMG_9973This is a tasty and a healthy chutney made with beetroots. It can be taken as a side dish for idli and dosa. Beetroot has a lot of health benefits and it can be added in any form as we like. The recipe is as follows

Preparation Time: 15minutes

Cooking Time: 25minutes

Ingredients:

  • Beetroot -1
  • Red chilli -2
  • Garlic -5
  • Channa Dal/Kadalai Parupu -2tblsp
  • Tomato -1
  • Tamarind -1inch piece
  • Salt -1tsp
  • Oil -3tblsp

Preparation:

  • Chop beetroot and tomato into small slices

Procedure:

  • Pour oil in a pan
  • Add channa dal, red chilli and garlic and fry
  • Add beetroot and fry till they gets cooked
  • Add tomatoes and mix well and allow to cool
  • Add salt and tamarind and blend in a mixer
  • If you wish temper by adding mustard seeds, curry leaves and add it to the chutney
  • Beetroot chutney is now ready!!!

Step by Step Procedure:

Pour oil in a pan. Add channa dal, red chilli and garlic and fry

IMG_9961Add salt and tamarind and blend in a mixer. If you wish temper by adding mustard seeds, curry leaves and add it to the chutney. Beetroot chutney is now ready!!!
