Anchovies Dry Fish Curry/Nethili Karuvadu Kulambu

IMG_8780This is a South Indian dish made with dry fish. This dry fish curry can be had with steamed rice, dosa and idli. The taste will be so excellent and the preparation is also very simple. Wash dry fish well in water to remove the sand in it. Also add little salt and check for the taste as dry fish already has salt in it. The recipe is as follows

Preparation Time: 20 minutes

Cooking Time: 40minutes

Ingredients:

  • Anchovies/Nethili Dry Fish -100gms
  • Big Onion -1
  • Tomato -1
  • Green Chilli -2
  • Garlic -3
  • Red chilli powder/Milagai thool -2tsp
  • Turmeric powder/Manjal thool -1tsp
  • Sambar powder -2tsp
  • Tamarind water -1cup (Soak lemon size tamarind in water and extract the juice)
  • Water -1/2cup
  • Salt -1tsp
  • Oil -2tblsp

Preparation:

  • Wash dry fish well in water to remove the sand in it
  • Chop onion, tomato and green chilli into small pieces
  • Soak lemon size tamarind in water and extract the juice

Procedure:

  • Pour oil in a pan
  • Add green chilli, garlic and onion and fry till onion becomes golden brown in color
  • Then add red chilli powder, turmeric powder, sambar powder and salt and mix well
  • Then add tamarind water and add some water and boil well
  • Then add nethili and boil well till the curry gets thickened
  • Nethili karuvadu Kulambu is now ready!!!

Step by Step Procedure:
