White Chickpeas Sundal/White Kondakadalai Sundal

IMG_8513This is a quick and healthy snack which can be made easily. We have to soak it overnight before cooking. Chickpeas are a good source of protein. Chickpeas, are rich in both soluble and insoluble dietary fiber. Chickpeas also contain exceptional levels of iron, vitamin B-6 and magnesium. So it should be added in our diet in any form as we like.

Preparation Time: 20minutes

Cooking Time: 15minutes

Soaking Time: 6-8hours

Ingredients:

  • White Chickpeas/White kondakadalai -1 and ½ cup
  • Mustard seeds/Kadugu -1tsp
  • Urad Dal/Ulutham parupu -1/2tsp
  • Asafoetida/Hing/Perunkayam -1tsp
  • Curry leaves –A spring
  • Red chilli powder/Milagai thool -2tsp
  • Coriander powder/Malli thool -1tsp
  • Coconut gratings -3tblsp
  • Salt -1tsp or as required
  • Oil -1tblsp or as required

Preparation:

  • Soak white chickpeas for 6-8hours and pressure cook it for 3whistles in high flame and in low flame for 15minutes

Procedure:

  • Pour oil in a pan
  • Add mustard seeds and after they crackle, add urad dal, curry leaves and hing and fry
  • Then add the boiled chickpeas and fry well
  • Then add red chilli powder, coriander powder and salt and mix well
  • Then add coconut gratings and mix well
  • Whit chickpeas Sundal is now ready!!!

Step by Step Procedure:
