Urad Dal Rice/Ulunthu Rice

IMG_7455This is an easy variety rice recipe made with urad dal. The taste will be very nice and the preparation is very easy. It requires only a few ingredients with less preparation time and it is very healthy too. Urad dal has a lot of health benefits and we have to add it in our diet in any form as we like.

Preparation Time: 15minutes

Cooking Time: 15minutes

Ingredients:

  • Cooked Rice -1 and ¼ cup
  • Urad dal/Ulutham parupu -3tblsp
  • Rec chilli -2
  • Cumin seeds/Seerakam -1tsp
  • Coconut gratings -2tblsp
  • Garlic -2
  • Mustard seeds/Kadugu -1tsp
  • Curry leaves –A spring
  • Salt -1tsp or as required
  • Oil -1tblsp+1tblsp

Preparation:

  • Cook rice
  • Grate coconut

Procedure:

  • Pour oil in a pan
  • Add urad dal, red chilli, cumin seeds and fry
  • Then add garlic and coconut gratings and fry and switch off the flame
  • Allow it to cool and grind it using a mixer and mix it with rice
  • Pour oil in a pan
  • Add mustard seeds and curry leaves and mix it with rice
  • Urad Dal rice is now ready!!!

Step by Step Procedure:

Pour oil in a pan. Add urad dal, red chilli, cumin seeds and fry
