Snake Gourd With Dal/Pudalangai pasiparupu kootu

IMG_7838This is a tasty snake gourd fry with dal which goes well as a side dish for rice. Snake gourd has a lot of health benefits. Some of the most important health benefits of snake gourd include its ability to improve the strength of the immune system, detoxify the body, improve the digestive processes of the body, increase hydration in the body, treat diabetes, boost the strength and quality of the hair, and aid in weight loss. So it should be added in our diet in any form as we wish.

Preparation Time: 10minutes

Cooking Time: 25minutes

Ingredients:

  • Snake Gourd/Pudalakai -1
  • Moong Dal/Pasi parupu -1/2cup
  • Channa Dal/Kadalai parupu -1/4cup
  • Urad Dal/Ulutham parupu -1tsp
  • Cumin seeds/Seerakam -1/2tsp
  • Green Chilli -2
  • Coconut -1/4cup
  • Turmeric powder/Manjal thool -1tsp
  • Mustard seeds/Kadugu -1tsp
  • Water -1/2cup
  • Salt -1tsp or as required
  • Oil -1tblsp+1tblsp or as required

Preparation:

  • Wash and chop snake gourd into small pieces

Procedure:

  • Wash and chop snake gourd into small pieces.
  • Take a pressure cooker and add moong dal and channa dal and add snake gourd and add turmeric powder and water and pressure cook for 2whistles in high flame and in low flame for 10minutes
  • Pour oil in a pan and add urad dal, cumin seeds and fry
  • Then add coconut and grind it
  • Pour oil in a pan
  • Add mustard seeds, green chili and add the pressure cooked snake gourd along with dal and fry
  • Then add the grinded mixture and mix well
  • Snake Gourd with Dal is now ready!!!
