Potato Rice/Urulai Kilangu Sadam

IMG_8705This is a tasty and an easy rice made with potatoes. Variety rice are very easy to prepare and we can prepare it easily when we are in a hurry. It required less preparation time and the taste will also be very nice. They can be prepared when you have some left over rice in the fridge. They can be easily prepared when you go for picnics or out anywhere. The recipe of potato rice is as follows

Preparation Time: 20minutes

Cooking Time: 15minutes

Ingredients:

  • Cooked Rice -1cup
  • Potatoes -2
  • Urad Dal /Ulutham parupu -1tblsp
  • Channa Dal/Kadalai Parupu -1 and ½ tblsp
  • Big Onion -1
  • Green Chilli -1
  • Turmeric powder/Manjal thool -1tsp
  • Red Chilli powder/Milagai thool -2tsp
  • Coriander powder/Malli thool -2tsp
  • Mustard seeds/Kadugu -1tsp
  • Curry leaves -A spring
  • Salt -1tsp or as required
  • Oil -1tblsp or as required

Preparation:

  • Boil potatoes and mash them
  • Chop onion and green chilli into small pieces

Procedure:

  • Boil potatoes and mash them
  • Pour oil in a pan
  • Add green chilli and onion and fry till onion becomes golden brown in color
  • Then add potatoes and mix well
  • Then add turmeric powder, salt and mix well
  • Dry fry urad dal, channa dal and grind it with chilli powder and coriander powder
  • Add this powder and mix well
  • Then add rice and mix well
  • Pour 1tsp oil in a pan and add mustard seeds and curry leaves and add it to the rice and mix well
  • Potato rice is now ready!!!

Step by Step Procedure:
