Lima Beans Vadai/Mochai Payir Vadai

IMG_8880This is a quick and healthy snack made with mochai payir. This vadai is made with fresh mochai and so it does not need soaking. This can be given as a healthy snack for kids when they come from school. The preparation is also very easy and it can be taken as a side dish for rice too.

Preparation Time: 25minutes

Cooking Time: 25minutes

Ingredients:

  • Lima beans/Mochai -1 and 1/2cup
  • Big Onion -1
  • Green chilli -2
  • Coriander leaf –A spring
  • Besan Flour -1/4cup
  • Rice Flour -1/4cup
  • Red chilli powder/Miligai thool -2tsp
  • Turmeric powder/Manjal thool -1tsp
  • Coriander powder/Malli thool -2tsp
  • Salt -2tsp or as required
  • Oil- For deep frying

For Grinding:

  • Mochai -1 and 1/2cup
  • Red chilli powder/Miligai thool -2tsp
  • Turmeric powder/Manjal thool -1tsp
  • Coriander powder/Malli thool -2tsp

Grind them in a mixer without adding water

Preparation:

  • Chop onion and green chilli into small pieces
  • Grind mochai with chilli powder, turmeric powder and coriander powder without adding water

Procedure:

  • Grind mochai with chilli powder, turmeric powder and coriander powder without adding water
  • Take this in a bowl and then add chopped onion and mix well
  • Then add coriander leaf, green chilli, besan flour, rice flour and salt and mix well
  • Pour oil in a pan for deep frying
  • Take a small portion from the batter and form like a vada and deep fry it in oil and drain using a paper towel
  • Mochai Vadai is now ready!!!

Step by Step Procedure:

Grind mochai with chilli powder, turmeric powder and coriander powder without adding water
