Kuruma Curry/Kuruma Kulambu

IMG_7635This is a wonderful and different curry having both the taste of potato kuruma and puli kulambu. The taste will be very nice and the preparation takes little time only. This can be taken with rice or as a side dish for idli and dosa.

Preparation Time: 20minutes

Cooking Time: 30minutes

Ingredients:

  • Big Onion -1
  • Tomato -1
  • Cinnamon/Pattai -1 inch piece
  • Cloves/Krambu -1
  • Curry leaves –A spring
  • Potato -1
  • Ginger garlic paste -2tsp (For homemade ginger garlic paste click here –> Click)
  • Coconut -1/4cup
  • Fennel seeds/Sombu/Perunjeerakam -2tsp
  • Red chilli powder/Milagai thool -2tsp
  • Coriander powder/Malli thool -2tsp
  • Water -1/2 cup
  • Tamarind Water -1/2cup (Soak a small lemon size tamarind in water and extract the juice)
  • Salt -2tsp or as required
  • Oil -3tblsp or as required

For Grinding:

  • Coconut -1/4cup
  • Fennel seeds/Sombu/Perunjeerakam -2tsp

Grind coconut and fennel seeds to a fine paste by adding water

Preparation:

  • Chop onion into small pieces
  • Wash and chop tomato and potato into small pieces
  • Grind coconut and fennel seeds to a fine paste by adding water

Procedure:

  • Pour oil in a pan
  • Add cinnamon, cloves and onion and fry till onion becomes golden brown in color
  • Then add ginger garlic paste and tomatoes and fry till tomatoes becomes soft
  • Then add potatoes and fry
  • Grind coconut and fennel seeds to a fine paste and add this and mix well
  • Then add chilli powder, coriander powder, salt and add water and mix well
  • Then add tamarind water and boil
  • Kuruma Curry is now ready!!!

Step by Step Procedure:
