Fried Gram Chutney With Coconut/Porikadalai Thengai Chutney

IMG_7474This is a common recipe in South India which is prepared with coconut and fried gram/porikadalai. This is an easy and a simple chutney which can be made in minutes. The preparation is very simple with only a few ingredients. This is a wonderful side dish for idli and dosa and the recipe is as follows

Preparation Time: 10minutes

Cooking Time: 5minutes

Ingredients:

  • Coconut -1/4cup
  • Fried Gram/Porikadalai -1/4cup
  • Green Chilli -1
  • Coriander leaves –A spring
  • Salt -2tsp or as required
  • Oil -1tblsp
  • Mustard Seeds/Kadugu -1tsp
  • Urad Dal/Ulutham parupu -1/2 tsp
  • Cumin Seeds/Seerakam -1/2tsp
  • Curry leaves –A spring
  • Water -1/4cup or as required

Preparation:

  • Chop coconut and green chilli into small pieces

Procedure:

  • Take chopped coconut, fried gram/porikadalai, green chilli, coriander leaves, and salt in a mixer and grind it by adding water
  • Pour oil in a pan
  • After it gets heated add mustard seeds and after they splutter add urad dal, cumin seeds and curry leaves and pour it over the chutney and mix well
  • Fried gram chutney with coconut is now ready!!!

Step by Step Procedure:
