Double Beans Rice

IMG_8752This double beans pulav or double beans rice is a variety rice done with double beans. This is one of the easy lunch recipe you can prepare when you are in a hurry. You can prepare this easily as a lunch for your children or when you have little time for lunch preparation. It is a healthy dish and it requires few time to prepare. The taste and the flavor will be nice and you can have it with any fry or with onion raita. If you use dried beans, you have to soak else no soaking is needed. You can also use water instead of coconut milk but coconut milk gives a nice taste to the dish.

Preparation Time: 25minutes

Cooking Time: 25minutes

Ingredients:

  • Double beans -1/2cup
  • Big Onion -2
  • Cinnamon/Pattai –A small piece (Of 1cm)
  • Cloves/Krambu -2
  • Cardamom/Elachi/Elakai -3
  • Biriyani leaf -1
  • Green Chilli -3
  • Ginger garlic paste -1tblsp(For Home made Ginger garlic Paste Click here –> Click)
  • Small onion -5
  • Coriander Powder/Malli Thool -1tblsp
  • Cumin seeds powder/Seeraka powder -1tsp
  • Fennel seeds powder/Sombu thool Perunjeeraka thool -1tsp
  • Coconut milk -2cup(You can also use water instead of coconut milk)
  • Uncooked rice -1cup
  • Lemon juice -1tblsp
  • Salt -2tsp or as required
  • Oil -1tblsp or as required

For grinding:

  • Green Chilli -3
  • Ginger garlic paste -1tblsp(For home made Ginger garlic paste click here –> Click)
  • Small onion -5

Grind this to a fine paste by adding water

Preparation:

  • Pressure cook double beans by adding half cup of water for 3whistles in high flame and in low flame for 15minutes
  • Chop onion into small pieces
  • Extract the milk from coconut and keep
  • Grind green chilli, ginger garlic paste and small onion to a fine paste by adding water and keep

Procedure:

  • Pressure cook double beans by adding half cup of water for 3whistles in high flame and in low flame for 15minutes
  • After the pressure goes by itself, open the cooker and drain the water and take double beans and keep
  • Pour oil in the same cooker and add cloves, cinnamon, cardamom, biriyani leaf and onion and fry till onion becomes golden brown in color
  • Grind green chilli, ginger garlic paste and small onion to a fine paste by adding water and add this and mix well
  • Then add the cooked double beans and fry well
  • Then add coriander powder, cumin powder, fennel powder, salt and mix well
  • Then add rice and mix well
  • Then add coconut milk and lemon juice and mix well and allow to boil
  • Then check for the taste and if it is ok, close the cooker and keep in high flame for ten minutes and in low flame for ten minutes
  • Then after the pressure goes by itself open the cooker and serve hot
  • Double beans rice is now ready!!!
