Double Beans Fry

IMG_8746This is a fry which goes well as a side dish with rice. I have used fresh double beans. You can also use dried double beans but you have to soak it before you use. Double beans has a lot of health benefits. So you can have it in any forms like fry or gravy or pulav or as in any form as you wish. Here is a simple fry of double beans.

Preparation Time: 10minutes

Cooking Time: 30minutes

Ingredients:

  • Double Beans -1/2cup
  • Big Onion -1
  • Curry leaves –A spring
  • Cumin seeds/Seerakam -1tsp
  • Red chilli powder/Milagai thool -1tsp or as required
  • Coriander powder/Malli thool -1tsp
  • Turmeric powder/Manjal thool -1tsp
  • Coconut gratings -1/4cup
  • Green chilli -2
  • Fennel seeds/Sombu/Perunjeerakam -2tsp
  • Salt -2tsp or as required
  • Oil -1tblsp or as required

For Grinding:

  • Coconut gratings -1/4cup
  • Green chilli -2
  • Fennel seeds/Sombu/Perunjeerakam -2tsp

Grind these coarsely without adding water

Preparation:

  • Chop onion into small pieces
  • Grind coconut, fennel seeds, and green chilli coarsely without adding water

Procedure:

  • Pressure cook double beans with 1/4cup water and cook for 3whistles in high flame and in low flame for 10minutes
  • Pour oil in a pan
  • Add cumin seeds and after they crackle add onion and curry leaves and fry till onion becomes golden brown in color
  • Then add the boiled double beans and fry
  • Then add chilli powder, coriander powder, turmeric powder and salt and mix well
  • Grind coconut, fennel seeds, and green chilli coarsely without adding water and add this and mix well
  • Double beans fry is now ready!!!

Step by Step Procedure:
