Chicken Soup

IMG_8408This is a healthy and yummy chicken soup which can be had for breakfast. This is very easy to prepare and it will be very great to have in cold rainy day. Chicken soup also helps to cure common cold. Here is the recipe of a simple chicken soup.

Preparation Time: 15minutes

Cooking Time: 30minutes

Ingredients:

  • Chicken -1/4kg
  • Small onion -10
  • Coriander leaves/Cilantro/Malli leaves -1/4cup
  • Cumin seeds/Seerakam -1tsp
  • Pepper/Milagu -1tsp
  • Biriyani leaf -1
  • Cardamom/Elachi/Elakai -1
  • Big Onion -1
  • Curry leaves -A Spring
  • Turmeric powder/Manjal thool -1tsp
  • Corn flour -2tsp
  • Salt -1tsp or as required
  • Water -1/4cup
  • Oil -1tblsp or as required

For Grinding:

  • Small onion -10
  • Coriander leaves/Cilantro/Malli leaves -1/4cup
  • Cumin seeds/Seerakam -1tsp
  • Pepper/Milagu -1tsp

Grind this to a fine paste by adding water

Preparation:

  • Wash and clean the chicken pieces
  • Chop big onion into small pieces
  • Grind small onion, coriander leaves, cumin seeds and pepper to a fine paste by adding water

Procedure:

  • Pour oil in a cooker
  • Add biriyani leaf, cardamom, onion, curry leaves and fry till onion becomes golden brown in color
  • Then add turmeric powder and salt and mix well
  • Grind small onion, coriander leaves, cumin seeds and pepper to a fine paste by adding water and add this and mix well
  • Then add chicken and mix well
  • Then add water and close cooker and boil for 3 whistles in high flame and in low flame for 20 minutes
  • Then after the pressure goes by itself, open the cooker and separate the boiled water and chicken pieces and shred it into small pieces by removing the bones
  • Then add the boiled water in a pan and boil
  • Add corn flour mixed with water boil
  • Then add the chicken pieces and boil
  • Chicken soup is now ready!!!
