Carrot Halwa

IMG_8203This is a delicious dessert which is made with carrots and milk. Carrots are good for health and we can eat it raw or make it as a fry or we can make sweets too. Even people who don’t like to eat carrots will like this halwa. This requires only few ingredients and it is very easy to prepare. The recipe is as follows

Preparation Time: 10minutes

Cooking Time: 30minutes

Ingredients:

  • Carrot -2 cups grated
  • Milk -1 ¼ cup
  • Sugar/Jaggery -3/4 cup
  • Cardamom powder/Elakai powder/Elachi powder -1tsp
  • Cashews -5-8(Optional)
  • Ghee -5tsp

Preparation:

  • Wash carrots and grate it using a grater

Procedure:

  • Pour 1tsp ghee in a pan
  • Add carrots and fry
  • Then add milk and boil in high flame till it becomes dry and stir occasionally
  • Add sugar or jiggery and stir in low flame till the halwa becomes thick
  • If you are adding cashews add at this stage
  • Then add cardamom powder and mix well and add 4tsp ghee and mix well
  • Carrot Halwa is now ready!!!

Step by Step Procedure:
