Bitter gourd 65/Pavakkai 65

IMG_8287This is a bitter gourd deep fry recipe which goes well as a side dish for rice. You have to marinate it first and then deep fry it in oil. Most of you out there would have bitter gourd in your hate list. I was one among you until I tasted some delicious dishes made with it. Even people who don’t like to eat bitter gourd will have this fry as it will be tastier and crisp. Even kids who hate bitter gourd will have this bitter gourd 65. The bitter gourd does not lose its quality of being bitter, but the other masala over play the bitterness and make the dish enjoyable.

Preparation Time: 15minutes

Cooking Time: 25minutes

Marinating Time: 15minutes

Ingredients:

  • Bitter gourd/Pavakkai -2
  • Rice flour/Arisi mavu -1/4cup
  • Hing/Asafoetida/Purunkaayam -1tsp
  • Red chilli powder/Milagai thool -1tblsp
  • Pepper powder/Milagu thool -2tsp
  • Coriander powder/Malli thool -2tsp
  • Cumin powder/Seeraka thool -1tsp
  • Salt -1tblsp or as required
  • Oil –For deep frying

Preparation:

  • Wash and chop bitter gourd into small pieces

Procedure:

  • Wash and chop bitter gourd into small pieces
  • Add rice flour, hing, red chilli powder, pepper powder, coriander powder, cumin powder and salt and marinate for 15 minutes
  • Pour oil in a pan for deep frying
  • Add the bitter gourd slices ono by one and deep fry it
  • Drain it using paper towel
  • Bitter gourd 65 is now ready!!!

Step by Step Procedure:
