Cabbage Vadai/Muttaikos Vadai

IMG_8161This is a vadai made with cabbage. The taste will be nice and those who don’t like to add cabbage in their diet can do different recipes with cabbage and can add it to your diet. This vadai can be done easily for an evening snack and can be had with a cup of tea. Cabbage can vary in color from green to red and purple, and the leaves can be smooth or crinkled. Cabbage has a lot of health benefits too. Eating a half-cup of cooked cabbage would provide 47% of your vitamin C  needs for the day. So we can make it as vadai if we don’t like to have cooked cabbage.

Preparation Time: 20minutes

Cooking Time: 25minutes

Ingredients:

  • Cabbage -1/4
  • Big onion -1
  • Curry leaves –A spring
  • Green Chilli =2
  • Rice flour/Arisi maavu -1/4cup
  • Besan Flour/Kadalai maavu -1/2cup
  • Salt -1tblsp or as required
  • Oil –For deep frying

Preparation:

  • Wash and scrap cabbage into small pieces using a scrapper
  • Chop onion and green chilli into fine pieces
  • You can use store bought ready made rice flour and besan flour

Procedure:

  • Wash and scrap cabbage into small pieces using a scrapper
  • Add rice flour, besan flour and chopped big onion to it and mix
  • Then add curry leaves, green chilli, and salt and mix well
  • Pour oil in a pan for deep frying
  • Then take a small piece and make it into round shape and press it and adjust the shape and put it into oil and fry till it becomes brown in color
  • Then drain it using tissue paper and enjoy
  • Cabbage vadai is now ready!!!

Step by Step Procedure:
