Badam Burfi/Almond Burfi

IMG_8346Badam Burfi/Almond burfi is an easy and quick sweet recipe which we can make for festivals. It is healthy and rich in flavor. The taste will be very nice and you can’t possibly eat just one. Almonds are a good source of nutrients which help in improving the brain development. It enhances the brain activity, especially the thinking process, and hence, can be given to growing children. So they can be made as a sweet and can be given. The recipe is as follows

Preparation Time: 15minutes

Cooking Time: 25min

Ingredients:

  • Badam/Almond -1cup
  • Sugar -2 and ¼ cup
  • Milk or water -1/2cup
  • Elakai/Cardamom/Elachi -1
  • Water -1/2cup
  • Ghee –5-10 drops for greasing the plate

Preparation:

  • Soak Badam in hot water and peel the skin off

Procedure:

  • Soak Badam in hot water and peel the skin off
  • Now grind it to a fine smooth paste by adding milk or water
  • In a nonstick pan take sugar and add ½ cup water and dissolve the sugar till it reaches one string consistency (kambi padham)
  • Then add the grounded badam paste and powdered elachi and stir in low flame
  • It will take some time and after some minutes of stirring the mixture will get thickened
  • Grease a plate with ghee and pour this mixture on it
  • Cool down a little and then cut it into squares using a knife
  • Badam Burfi is now ready!!!

Step by Step Procedure:

Soak Badam in hot water

IMG_8337It will take some time and after some minutes of stirring the mixture will get thickened

IMG_8342You can store it in boxes and can have it for up to one week

Note:

  • Do not use more water or milk while grinding badam as you will not get burfi form
  • Cut the burfi while it is warm else it will be too hard to cut it
