Avarakkai Parupu Kulambu/Broad beans Dal Curry

IMG_7827This is one of the easy kulambu which we can have with rice, dosa and idli. It is very healthy as it involves Dal and broad beans and it can be given for babies too. It is very easy to prepare and we can prepare this easily when we are in a hurry. Broad Beans is a rich source of different nutrients, vitamins and minerals including: protein, fibre, vitamins A, C and K, the minerals magnesium, potassium and iron. Broad beans are a source of both types of dietary fiber and soluble fibre. It serves as a rich source of thiamin, which is essential to maintain normal nerve function. Dal also has a lot of health benefits. So this is a healthy kulambu and we can see the recipe now

Preparation Time: 10minutes

Cooking Time: 25minutes

Ingredients:

  • Avarakkai/Broad beans -7-10
  • Moong Dal/Paasi parupu -1/2 cup
  • Small Onion -5
  • Garlic -3 pods
  • Coconut -2tblsp
  • Cumin seeds/Seerakam -1/2 tsp +1tsp
  • Red chilli powder/Milagai thool -2tblsp or as required
  • Mustard seeds/Kadugu -1tsp
  • Curry leaf –A spring
  • Salt -2tsp or as required

For Grinding:

  • Small Onion -5
  • Garlic -3 pods
  • Coconut -2tblsp
  • Cumin seeds/Seerakam -1/2 tsp
  • Red chilli powder/Milagai thool -2tblsp

Grind this to a fine paste by adding water

Preparation:

  • Chop avarakkai into fine pieces
  • Grind small onion, garlic, coconut, cumin seeds and chilli powder to a fine paste by adding water

Procedure:

  • Add avarakkai and moong dal in a cooker and pressure cook it for 3whistles in high flame and in low flame for 15minutes
  • Grind small onion, garlic, coconut, cumin seeds and chilli powder to a fine paste by adding water and pour this and add salt and mix well
  • Pour oil in a pan and add mustard seeds, curry leaf and cumin seeds and add this over the kulambu and mix well
  • Avarakkai parupu kulambu is now ready!!!

Step by Step Procedure:
